Warning: Facebook porn is malware in disguise

Facebook is aware of the issue

Facebook users beware: there’s a porn scam doing the rounds.

Once in a blue moon one of your Facebook friends might ‘accidentally’ share a porn video on the social media site.

Now, you can do one of four things: keep scrolling and pretend like nothing happened, like the video, comment on it, or have a cheeky look to see what exactly your mate is in to.

However, users are being warned that if you see a pornographic video preview on Facebook then you better avoid it like the plague as it could be malware in disguise.

The BBC reports, “The latest threat to users involves a fake Flash Player update which pops up during a preview of a pornographic video.

“Once you click on the link to update your video player, malware downloads onto your computer.”

According to security researcher Mohammad Faghani, the virus can give control of your mouse and keyboard to the creator of the virus and after a user clicks the infected link it will tag up to 20 of the victims friends in the post, leading to more infected computers.

Faghani believes more than 110,000 users could be infected in just two days.

Facebook has said it’s aware of the issue and that they “are blocking links to these scams, offering cleanup options, and pursuing additional measures to ensure that people continue to have a safe experience on Facebook.”
