WhatsApp have finally introduced the feature we’ve all been waiting for

Finally…

After months lingering in the Beta stage, WhatsApp finally rolled out video calling on their app on Tuesday to the delight of its users.

According to a statement on the company blog, users on Android, iOS and Windows phones will be able to use the feature over the coming days.

The function will be similar to the already existing voice calling feature but, naturally as it’s video calling, it will allow you to see both yourself and the person you’re calling on the screen.

The new feature could be bad news for other traditional video calling apps such as Skype and Apple’s FaceTime with the Facebook owned WhatsApp reporting in February this year that they have 1 billion monthly users.

“Today we’re excited to announce the next step in our efforts to connect people – WhatsApp video calling,” a statement from WhatsApp read.

“We’re introducing this feature because we know that sometimes voice and text just aren’t enough. There’s no substitute for watching your grandchild take her first steps, or seeing your daughter’s face while she’s studying abroad. And we want to make these features available to everyone, not just those who can afford the most expensive new phones or live in countries with the best cellular networks.”

“Over the years we’ve received many requests from our users for video calling, and we’re excited to finally offer this feature to the world. Thank you for using WhatsApp and we promise to keep working hard every day to improve the service.”

WhatsApp just upped their game…
