The main sports story this morning is that Carlos Tevez has handed in a transfer request, as the Argentinean is disillusioned with life at Eastlands and is upset that he was substituted in the final minute against Bolton.

An insider (him again) told the News of the World last night, “Carlos has handed in a transfer request, but he will continue to give 100 per cent to the club. He is honoured to play for the club and is proud to be captain, but he cannot work with the manager or many of the people behind the scenes at City. He has a fantastic respect for the fans and the owner.

“The transfer window is open in January and he would like to leave then. But the one thing that is absolutely certain is that Carlos will not be a City player next season.” Sky Sports News confirmed that the request was rejected by the Manchester City board.”
