‘It was a fairytale for Fulham that had a heart-breaking finish,’ reads The Daily Star today.

A Diego Forlan double claimed the Europa League title for Atletico Madrid last night after Fulham had pushed the Spaniards all the way, into extra-time.

A gutsy and determined effort from Roy Hodgson’s men was not enough to complete the fairytale ending as The Star suggests even though at times Fulham could have etched their name on the trophy.

Forlan had put Ateltico in front in the first half but Simon Davies put the English side back on level terms before half-time. Forlan struck the killer blow in extra-time.

Meanwhile, in Premier League transfer news, Chelsea’s Didier Drogba has said he would welcome Fernando Torres to Stamford Bridge if a reported £50 million transfer is agreed with Liverpool.

The Chelsea star striker said: “Every time a new player comes here it is making the club bigger and giving us strength.

“If there is a chance for Torres to come he will be welcome – because any help is welcome!”
