14 All-Star nominees for Tipperary

Fourteen of the Tipperary team that started the All-Ireland final victory over Kilkenny have been nominated for the 2010 Vodafone Hurling All-Stars.

Fourteen of the Tipperary team that started the All-Ireland final victory over Kilkenny have been nominated for the 2010 Vodafone Hurling All-Stars.

Kilkenny have 11 nominees and Henry Shefflin, who had to withdraw injured in the early stages of the final, will be hoping to receive a tenth All-Star and surpass the record he currently holds jointly with fellow Kilkenny man DJ Carey and Kerry footballer Pat Spillane.

Tommy Walsh has been tipped to win his eight successive award, Tipperary captain Eoin Kelly will be going for his sixth All-Star, while 21 of the 45 players nominated will be going for their first award. In all, seven counties -Tipperary, Kilkenny, Waterford, Cork, Galway, Offaly and Antrim are represented.

The All-Star team, along with the player and young player of the year awards will be announced on Friday, 15 October and will be shown live on RTE 2.
