The Green Party's most prolific tweeter Dan Boyle was using the medium again yesterday to justify his party's decision to pull out of government.

'Doing what we believe to be right. Have thought long and hard about the likely consequences. We believe it's in the interests of the country,' he wrote.

Yesterday, the Green Party announced their decision to pull out of their coalition with Fianna Fail after the upcomming budget is passed.

The next election is due to be held in the second half of January - the Greens' decision is by no means a cynical attempt to save their seats.
