TV pick: Rope, RTE 1, 1.40am

Alfred Hitchcock wanted to film this real-time classic in one continuous take, but technology in 1948 made it impossible. While there are a couple of cleverly disguised cuts, it remains a technical marvel.

The plot concerns two men who commit a murder, before inviting the victim's family and friends to a dinner party, with the body hidden in the room. One of the guests, their college professor Jimmy Stewart, begins to suspect something. Probably best to Sky+ this one as it is on very late.

Sport pick: Liverpool v Wolves, Sky Sports 1, 7.30pm

Two struggling teams clash in the Premier League. A win for Wolves will move them off the foot of the table. A win for Liverpool will move them into the top half.

An honourable mention for the nine hours of PDC World Championship darts on Sky Sports 1 from 1pm, featuring three World Champions in Mark Webster, Raymond van Barneveld and Phil Taylor.
