A collection of this weekend’s sporting brawls

It must have been something to do with the moon or the time of year, but it seems sports people went a bit nuts this weekend.

We don't know what everyone was doing this weekend, but people were seriously pissed off on the sports fields, as they went about kicking, punching, fighting and all round going mental.

If it wasn't Nathan Dyer screaming at his team mates, then it was one of the fights below kicking off, so we decided to put together a few of the brawls from around the world that we saw over the past few days.

First there's this brawl in the game between UC Riverside and Sacramento State in California, which kicks off when a UC Riverside player is tagged out, but doesn't appreciate how hard he's hit. The only logical response? Go ahead and just punch the other guy, of course, which starts an all out brawl on the field.

Eventually four players were thrown out of the game in total, but Riverside did go on to win it, so maybe this just a brilliant team bonding tactic.

Then there was this bit of handbags from the Eredevisie, which erupts after Jemain Lens confronted Joris Mathijsen of PSV outside the dressing rooms after the two had clashed during the match.

Finally , there was the one featuring a ref and a youth team in Saudi Arabia, who clearly took objection to one decision and decided that they were going to go mental and kick the crap out of him. Crazy stuff altogether.

Still, few of these match the ferocity of one of our favourite sporting brawls ever, the huge bust up between Athletic and Barcelona, complete with Maradona properly kicking one guy in the head and knocking him out.
