A moment of real class last night from Newcastle’s Steven Taylor

We know that as a local lad, Steven Taylor will always have the respect of the Toon supporters. Last night he will have won the respect of the general public.

Last Sunday he got the supporters in full voice with his attempts to psych out Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic before a free-kick that Yohan Cabaye dispatched into the top corner of the net.

In the Europa League match against Russian moneybags Anzhi last night, he showed himself to be a top man with a brilliant gesture after Newcastle’s late winner.

The Magpies looked to be heading for a nil-all draw for the return leg when Papiss Cisse popped up in the third minute of injury time to head home a winner.

The Senegalese striker celebrated in an almost ‘Ketsbaia’ manner by kicking the hoarding, but the centre-half went to the disabled section of the ground to share the moment with one happy supporter.

A really impressive gesture from the local man, who really can do no wrong in the eyes of the home crowd at the moment.
