With a nickname like Beefcake, Gillingham striker Adebayo Akinfenwa lives up to his billing and according to EA Sports, he is the strongest footballer out there.

The FIFA 14 stats show that the burly front-man is the top dog when it comes to the physical side of the game, claiming 97 out of a possible 100 points for strength, two points clear of his nearest challenger George Elokobi of Wolves.

Speaking in his Daily Mail column, Akinfenwa said that his brother Dele was more excited than he was, but admits it is recognition for the hard work he puts in.

“To be recognised as the best in the whole world at something is an achievement,” he said.

“People may laugh or whatever, but my strength is something that I have to work on. It’s not something that just happens overnight, it takes dedication and hard work and it has a purpose as it helps me every week on the pitch.”

EA tweeted the player last week to let him know he had come out on top after their extensive research and other players to feature in the top 20 are Wilfried Bony, Daniel van Buyten, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alex and Christopher Samba.

He’s a strong boy alright.
