JOE likes sun, sand and eh…what’s another word that begins with ‘s’? San Miguel beer, that’s right readers.

We’ve been doing some research for you so that you can budget out your holiday to Lanzarote this year, and we have to say that your euro is going to get you pretty far in this idyllic island setting.

If you’re heading over with the lads, you can budget for an incredible holiday on a tiny amount of cash, meaning this year’s break away in the sun is completely sorted.

One of the great things about travelling to Spain is their fondness for local beers and spirits, which means you get to try a new beer, and your money stays in your pocket since it’s pretty much always cheaper than the foreign import alternative.

In Lanzarote, if you want a local beer in a bar or a club, you’ll be fishing around in your pocket for about €1.50 in shrapnel, while if you are eyeing up a mixer and spirit, you’ll equally be flush with cash since they only cost around €2.

Let’s not forget that while you’re abroad, the concept of Happy Hour still exists, not like here, so you can have a shop around and find the best prices to get some serious bang for your buck.

Heading to the supermarket for a few drinks to keep you cool in the sun won’t break the bank either, with cans of beer costing around 50 cent, you genuinely can’t beat that value. You could also pick up a litre bottle of beer for €1.50, which will definitely relax you as you lie on the beach.

Eating out in a restaurant is affordable too, where you can pick up a three course meal for €15, so you don’t need to worry about going hungry. You can throw in a few drinks like a bottle of wine for only €8, so if you need to wine and dine a lady friend you won’t find yourself short of cash.

On the way back home from an evening’s antics you can grab a burger for about €3 or a pizza for €4, keeping you fuelled for the long nights.

Our friends over at ThomasCook.ie can get you to Lanzarote for as little as €434 which includes 7 night’s accommodation, return flights and airport transfers, so head on over and check out the deals.
