Anderson signs new Manchester United contract

Brazilian midfielder Anderson has signed a new contract at Manchester United which will keep him at the club until 2015.

The 22-year old joined United from Porto for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of €30 million, in the summer of 2007. After impressing early in his United career, his progress at Old Trafford stalled and the slightly hefty midfielder wasn’t helped by a series of injuries and a car crash earlier this year.

Anderson has only scored two goals in nearly 60 competitive appearances for United, but has been in excellent form in recent weeks and Sir Alex Ferguson believes there is plenty more to come from the midfielder.

Sir Alex Ferguson said: “We are delighted Anderson has signed a new contract.  Anderson has developed tremendously since joining the Club and he has fantastic potential at only 22 years of age, he is going to be a really top player.”

Anderson said: “This is the best Club to be at and I would like to thank everyone for the great support I have received over the years.  I am looking forward to winning many more trophies with this Club and I am so pleased to have signed a new contract.”
