Artur Boruc’s last minute penalty save for Southampton was possibly more relieving to one Paddy Power customer than any Saints fan.

One devilishly lucky punter in Cumbria placed a £6.66 accumulator bet on eight results yesterday, one of which was a Norwich-Southampton draw at 23/10.

After picking the correct outcomes in the other games, all he needed was the Premier League to finish deadlocked, so he must have had his heart in his mouth when Norwich were awarded a chance at the death to snatch the three points.

Luckily for him (and Southampton of course), the Polish keeper denied Grant Holt from the spot-kick.

“With Cheltenham kicking off on Tuesday this couldn’t have come at a better for the lucky devil although I very much doubt that he’ll be betting on next week’s Papal Conclave,” a Paddy Power spokesperson said.
