Baker serves up a treat for Reading with horrible OG

Aston Villa find themselves knee-deep in relegation mire, and the nature of the goal they conceded to Reading today is indicative of their recent form.

While the label of “six-pointer” is thrown around a little loosely for our likely, there is no doubt today’s game could go a long ways to deciding the fate of these clubs in their quest to avoid playing Championship football.

Villa coughed up the lead just after the half-hour mark when Nathan Baker managed to put the ball into his own net.

The 21 year-old attempted to clear Jobi McAnuff’s cross but sliced the ball past Brad Guzan that will have the away supporters fearing the worst.

Thankfully for them, Christian Benteke levelled matters within a minute and Gabby Agbonlahor gave them the lead just before the half-time whistle and while the defending today at the Madejski may be nothing short of awful, it is compelling viewing.
