Beat it – Fulham to remove Michael Jackson statue at Craven Cottage

It was only erected in 2011, but the Michael Jackson statue at Craven Cottage is to be removed after former Fulham owner Mohamed Al Fayed has decided he wants to give it as a gift to his friend.

The decision by Al Fayed to put up the statue was met with widespread ridicule by many when the owner insisted that Jackson was a Fulham fan, despite being only spotted there once. Whatever you say Mohamed.

Now the bizarre Jackson tribute will be removed and away supporters will have to make the most of it before it goes as it will soon be nothing but a distant memory.

The most famous Cottager of them all

Fulham for their part seem to be thankful it will be going, no doubt along with new owner American Shahid Khan.

“The statue is not part of the Riverside development of the stadium and will be returned to the former chairman in due course,” a spokesperson for the club said.

A most curious part of Fulham history that didn’t really stand the test of time.
