Have you had a gawk at Oireachtas TV yet? Given Eamon Gilmore’s remarks about arousal in the Dáil earlier today, we imagine that the television station will see an even bigger boost in ratings over the coming weeks.
Sure won’t we all be desperate to see them killing each other up in Leinster House? You can’t get much more entertaining than that in fairness. And maybe, if we’re lucky, Gilmore will have some more rude references to amaze us with.
First arousal and orgies, what next? Only time will tell…
The Irish Times reports that Oireachtas TV is starting to gain some decent popularity in the ratings department. So much so, in fact, that bosses at UPC are planning to promote the Dáil television station to a higher channel position on their digital television service.
According to UPC, Oireachtas TV has made a “strong start” since it began and at least 150,000 homes across the nation have tuned in over the past few months.
Oddly surprising given that the station is simply a televised broadcast of what goes on in the Dáil, the Seanad and certain other Oireachtas committees. But then again, today’s arousal antics just go to show that sometimes the politicians actually are amusing.
UPC has said that around 20,000 homes have watched the channel on a daily basis since the pilot station was introduced in November last year.
“UPC considers it an important public service that parliamentary proceedings are accessible to citizens,” said a spokesperson for UPC.
The company is now planning to move Oireachtas TV from channel 801 to a higher position in the 200 channel range.
We wonder if the move will inspire the channel to start showing some more programmes? How about a reality-tv Jersey Shore style documentary that follows the lives of Enda and co?
We imagine that would make the ratings absolutely skyrocket…
