Osama Bin Laden’s death is already receiving the spoof treatment, after Taiwanese animation service NMA TV recreated the tyrant’s last moments and spawned a YouTube hit in the process.
While bloggers await the first photographic evidence of Osama’s death, a notorious satirical Taiwanese CGI studio have garnered the first unofficial footage.
A spoof animation of the Navy SEAL raid on Osama Bin Laden’s Pakistani compound has become a sensation on YouTube for NMA TV, after the video received over 300,000 views before being set to ‘private’ by its uploader.
The sequence, which exists in smaller, seperate uploads, depicts the slain al-Qaeda figurehead overblown death, as Osama is shot down by rocket-propelled grenades and lasers at point-black range.
Bin Laden’s demise is later celebrated by Barack Obama and his predecessor George W Bush, while the Navy SEALS that perform the raid receive Xbox 360-style on-screen ‘Achievements’ for the Call of Duty-honed precision. Osama is then seen joined by Adolf Hitler and Saddam Hussein in hell.
Next Media Animation (NMA) have earned a huge reputation for their absurd, satirical re-enactments of current news events, which are produced by an CGI animation team in-house. The Taiwan-based subsidiary of Next Media first received noteriety in Ireland for their skewering of the IMF bailout deal.
Unfortunately, the Bin Laden death spoof is unavailable through NMA’s official site or YouTube account currently, perhaps due to complaints of insensitivity. Another YouTube user had re-posted the video, which was featured on this page earlier, but it has since been taken down from YouTube on copyright grounds.
NMA have since posted a much less over-the-top re-enactment of the event below:
Osama wasn’t the only only getting the NMA treatment in the last few days, however. Twitter user, @ReallyVirtual, Sohaib Athar’s, beat the world’s media by live-tweeting the events Monday morning, unbeknownst to him that the helicopter noise he was complaining about would position him at the centre of the biggest media story of the year.
