Birmingham make moves for Miller and Bentley

Birmingham manager Alex McLeish has made moves to sign Rangers and Scotland striker Kenny Miller and Tottenham midfielder David Bentley.

The Blues are also thought to be close to signing Ireland striker Robbie Keane as McLeish looks set to strengthen his squad ahead of an inevitable relegation battle in the Premier League.

The Blues have already had a bid of £600,000 (€720,000) accepted for 31-year old Miller, whose contract with Rangers was due to expire in the summer.

Miller will now discuss personal terms with the club before deciding on whether or not he wants to reunite with McLeish, whom he played under for the Scottish national side.

David Bentley, meanwhile, is reported to be undergoing a medical at Birmingham with a view to a transfer from high-flying Tottenham Hotspur.

Bentley has been frozen out at White Hart Lane as Harry Redknapp’s side have taken the Premier League and Champions League by storm this season.

Goals have been a major problem for Birmingham so far this season and McLeish will be hoping that Bentley will help provide for the likes of Miller, Keane, Cameron Jerome and Nikola Zigic at St. Andrews.
