Blackburn Rovers make sensational bid for Ronaldinho

Blackburn Rovers are reported to have made an approach for Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho.

The once great but now fading talent has been heavily linked with a move away from Italian giants AC Milan in recent weeks and Blackburn have emerged as an unlikely possible destination for the former Barcelona and Paris St Germain forward.

The club’s new owners, Venky’s, are apparently keen on making a big statement in the January transfer window and have tabled a bid in the region of £6million (€7million) in the hope of landing the 30-year old, who has six months left to run on his contract at the San Siro.

Venky's chair Anuradha Desai told BBC Radio Lancashire: "He is keen to play in the EPL [English Premier League] and I think that goes in our favour."

Brazilian club Gremio are also believed to be in the hunt for Ronaldinho and remain the favourites to secure his signature, but should he decide not to return to his homeland, Blackburn are hopeful of securing the services of the two-time World Player of the Year in what would be one of the most bizarre and unlikely transfers in the history of the Premier League.
