While everyone associated with Spurs was overjoyed to grab a late equaliser tonight to send Lyon out of Europe, no-one was happier that keeper Brad Friedel.
By Declan Whooley
The 41 year-old and one of the oldest men in the competition endured a torrid night of abuse and was booed throughout simply because he was chosen ahead of a former club favourite Hugo Lloris.
AVB decided to rest the French keeper and put the American between the sticks, and was a marked man from the first whistle by a boisterous home crowd.
They were in full voice right until the end when Moussa Dembele hit home a late equaliser that softened the cough of the supporters, and Friedel couldn’t resist a dig on Twitter after the game.

A result to savour for the American, though he is likely to return to the bench again next Monday when Spurs make the short journey to Upton Park.
