Britain’s plot to turn Hitler into a woman

Britain had some good, yet strange ideas during World War II. But none quite as strange as plotting to turn Hitler into a woman.

Yes, they seriously did. The Allies hoped to smuggle female sex hormones into the Fuhrer’s food, hoping to curb his aggression into some helpful baking tips (probably). The news comes from a new book Secret Weapons: Technology, Science And The Race To Win World War II, written by Professor Brian Ford from Cardiff University.

“There was an allied plan that they would smuggle oestrogen into Hitler’s food and change his sex so he would become more feminine and less aggressive,” Professor Ford said.

“Their research had showed the importance of sex hormones as they were beginning to be used in sex therapy in London.”

This was just one of a number of ludicrous ideas the Allies thought of while trying to break the war’s stalemate.

One plan was to drop glue onto the Nazi’s from planes in order to stick them to the ground. Another plan was to send them ‘disguising bombs’ in tins of fruit being imported into Germany.

On the whole issue of Hitler getting the old switcharoo, Professor Ford said the plan was actually feasible as British spies were in place to lace his food with the hormones.

“There were agents who would be able to get it into his food – it would have been entirely possible,” the professor said.
