Chelsea linked with €40 million Serie A star

Carlo Ancelotti is planning a move for Palermo midfielder and Argentina international Javier Pastore, according to reports.

Pastore signed for Palermo in 2009 for €8 million and has greatly impressed, attracting the attention of clubs such as Manchester United, Porto and AC Milan.

The attacking midfielder has scored 18 times in 82 appearances for Palermo, and scored his first career hat-trick this season against Catania in November.

Pastore, who has five caps for Argentina, is valued at €40 million as his contract doesn’t expire until 2014.

Chelsea purportedly see the 21-year-old as a long term replacement for Frank Lampard.
