Chelsea target Tottenham midfield maestro

Spurs star Luka Modric is top of Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti’s wish list according reports in the English media.

Dinamo Zagreb vice-president Zdravko Mamic, who engineered Modric’s move to Tottenham in 2008, claims that he spoke with Ancelotti recently.

"I was with Ancelotti for lunch,” Mamic said, “I was very proud when I heard what he said about Modric.

"Luka is top of his list, his first pick when it comes to new signings. I am not Modric's agent - I am just his friend - but I am very proud.

"I don't want to say anything more because I don't want to upset my friends at Tottenham."

Chelsea will reportedly try and tempt Tottenham with a bid in excess of €35 million, though the 25-year old is said to be very happy at White Hart Lane and only signed a new 6-year contract in May 2010.
