Will Clerks 3 ever get made? Kevin Smith seems a tad confused and unmotivated about his creative direction at the moment. The director talked about the possibility of another Clerks movie at a panel on the future of online television in the US on Friday. Although the man doesn’t quite know what to do next, it appears.

He alluded to maybe releasing the story in book form, chapter by chapter, receiving input from his audience as he goes. Sounds like a lazy way to write a book if you ask us. Where has the definitive writer and director gone?

Smith said: "I know people would go, 'Why would you want to? You're an artist," according to The Guardian.

Smith told the audience at the panel talk that he prefers the idea of a book or web series as it allows him to go inside the characters' heads, something he can’t do inside of 90 minutes. He also said: “That's what I want to do, because I'm a stoner.”

The lack of motivation and professional direction is all becoming clear now. Rehab anyone?

Smith created the black and white Clerks in 1994 with a tiny budget of $25,000, which became a huge cult hit and sparked off a sequel in 2006 with Clerks II. The director spends most of his time now podcasting on smodcast.com and calls himself a “new media artist.”

Finally, Smith said he would bring Clerks to the big screen at some point, because the money was more than likely to be there for it. However, the director also said that he might make Clerks into a Broadway play last year and that hasn’t happened either.

Someone needs to lay off the special brownies we think; otherwise nothing will get done. Ever.
