Connacht v Harlequins game to go ahead

Connacht’s Amlin Challenge Cup clash with Harlequins this evening will go ahead despite the cold snap that has descended on the west of Ireland in the last couple of days.

The pitch at the Sportsground (pictured above) was deemed playable this morning after an inspection by the grounds committee.

Earlier in the week Connacht Rugby took the precaution of spreading 80 bails of straw on the playing surface to protect it from the elements and the measures have proved successful.

The straw has been re-bailed and lifted off the pitch and the game is going ahead as scheduled at 7.00pm this evening.
