They are still a bit (okay, quite a bit) behind Real Madrid but Dublin GAA club Parnells have snagged themselves another inter-county star.
According to the Evening Herald, this time it is Mayo forward Conor Mortimer. The Shrule clubman missed all of the 2011 Championship because of a cruciate injury but he did play for his club in the early rounds of the Mayo championship, ruling him out for the northside club’s run at glory in the Dublin championship.
But when he does line out he will have Laois' Colm Parkinson, Darren Rooney, Colm Begley and MJ Tierney, Armagh's John Murtagh and Andreas Doyle of Wexford on the same team, all of whom have joined Parnells in recent years.
"Conor has moved up to Dublin and he is actually working in Dublin now," explained Parnell's chairman Frank Gleeson. "So it's 99 per cent that he will be with Parnell's for next season."
Of course, Parnells also have the services of All-Ireland winning goalkeeper Stephen Cluxton, so they are building a team that could bring a first Dublin title back to the Coolock/Artane club since 1988.
