Never mind slipping on the thermals for a quick 18, head off to the Costa del Golf with the lads for a great golfing holiday.
Ireland might be the world’s number one breeding ground for great golfers right now but for the casual player it’s a tough ask. Wind, rain, freezing temperatures and few enough hours of daylight make a golfer's lot on this island tricky at the best of times.
That’s why a trip to Costa del Sol is a must if you fancy playing a game without the need for hats, gloves and two pairs of socks.
Just a short plane ride away, the part of Spain known as the Costa del Sol is home to 45 golf courses so you and your mates will be spoiled for choice. And while the region boasts courses of Ryder Cup standard (like Valderrama, host of the 1997 event) there are lots of courses to suit every level and pocket.
For example, a quick nine-holes around Benalmadena golf course will only cost you €14.50 and every type of player is catered for in the region.
Of course, if you and a bunch of lads are heading off to Spain, you may want to do more than play golf and there are few better places in the world for a lads holiday.
The likes of Marbella and Puerto Banus are there for you if you want to rub shoulders with the minted folks down at the marina while you can head to Torremolinos or Fuengirola if you want to enjoy some of the best nightlife in Spain.
With Thomas Cook prices start from just €469 per person staying at the 3 star Aquamarina apartments in Torremolinos, based on four people sharing.
You can’t say fairer than that. All you have to do is turn up and be in the mood for some golf and a bit of craic.
Sound like a plan? If so, head on over to the Thomas Cook website for some great deals.
