The total bill of the lawsuits against Lance Armstrong shows no signs of getting any smaller as the US Department of Justice joins the queue.
By Adrian Collins
Lance Armstrong is now in a decent whack of trouble, as if he weren't already, as the legal bill he's about to rack up just keeps getting bigger.
It turns out that the US Department of Justice is lining up with all the rest of those who he's pissed off in a civil suit against him, which is coming in at a total of around $30 million.
The case argues that the entire US Postal Service racing team knowingly violated their contracts by repeatedly and consistently using performance enhancing drugs, and now the postal service thinks their sponsorship has been unfairly associated with the seedy side of things in cycling.
Unsurprisingly, the president of USADA, Travis Tygart, supported the US Department of Justice in their campaign, adding that he's hopeful this will help get back the “millions of federal dollars in ill-gotten gains generated by this fraud”. Big Lance fan then, obviously.
