Every club’s Twitter account should live tweet matches the way Everton’s does
By all accounts, Everton’s game with Crystal Palace this afternoon isn’t very entertaining. The live Twitter feed from the club’s official account, on the other hand, is brilliant.
When it comes to Twitter, barring a few exceptions, most football clubs play it straight down the line in an effort to avoid controversy of any kind; often it is as if the tweets have been authorised and sent out by a humourless computer programme of some sort (seen the Manchester United account lately by any chance?).
It has been particularly refreshing then, to follow the live tweets sent out from the official Everton account during a particularly non-eventful clash with Crystal Palace this afternoon as whoever was responsible sought to provide some light relief for themselves and the Everton fans who were uninspired by what they were seeing out on the pitch.
Here’s a taster.
A London journo in the press box just said " I've been coming here since I was 21. I'm 68 now and the same cobweb is still here!"

Some 0-0 games are thoroughly entertaining affairs despite the lack of goals. This ain't one of them. #efccpfc — Everton (@Everton) November 9, 2013
Wonderful chance for Chamakh but he heads wide from point blank range. A bit less hair gel and he may have converted that. #efccpfc

So entertaining were the tweets that they caught the attention of Irish international Darron Gibson and though he had a slight dig, we're sure he was only having a laugh.
It's not me on the @everton account 2day! I'd be funnier than whoever it is!

Keep up the good work chaps.
