According to the Brazilian government's World Cup site, there are going to be special 'fat seats' at the World Cup next year
By Adrian Collins
The World Cup in Rio is going to be sun, sand, samba football and a great bit of craic all round we think, but the organisers look to have covered every possibility so that no one will be excluded, all the way down to those people who are...eh...too big for the regular seats.
According to the Brazilian government's World Cup web site, the stadiums will have “1,675 [seats] reserved for obese people, or people with disabilities”. Only 120 of that number will be reserved for overweight people, so they might sell out quickly if you were looking to grab one.
The Castelão stadium in Fortaleza, pictured above, will be the stadium that has the obese seats, but apparently this is a FIFA mandate, so there may be more stadiums to come yet that have these extra wide seats, which can apparently accommodate people who weigh up to 40 stone.
According to The Sun, this is what the seats will look like in the stadium, looks pretty comfortable to us anyway!
