Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has targeted a 25 goal season for Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov, after the 29-year-old scored twice against Sunderland.
Berba's brace in yesterday's home victory comes just weeks after the Bulgarian's Premier League record-equalling five goals against Blackburn. Berbatov now has 13 goals this season and leads former United striker Carlos Tevez by one goal.
Asked whether the former Tottenham Hotspur player can continue his rich vein of form and help United reclaim the title, Ferguson was hopeful. "His form has been terrific. If he can get us to 25 - and we need one more to get around that figure - then we will have a good chance,"
Berbatov had been dropped to the bench for United's vital victory against Arsenal earlier this month and repaid his manager's renewed faith in his talents. Perched atop the Premier League with two games to spare, United are still unbeaten in the league.
