Former Celtic star McGeady linked with move away from Spartak

Aiden McGeady could be on his way to Gerard Houllier's Aston Villa, according to reports in the Sunday Mirror.

McGeady signed for Spartak Moscow for a fee of €14 million only this summer, but the Mirror claims that he could be already be ready to end his Russian adventure.

They claim that the 24-year old has struggled to settle in Moscow and that Aston Villa could land his signature in a cut-price deal.

Superficially, however, the Paisley born Irish international's time in Russian Top League has been quite successful, scoring twice, averaging roughly an assist every second game and finishing on the losing side in the league on only one occasion.

McGeady was linked with Villa in the summer too, when Martin O'Neill was still in charge.
