Further defensive injury problems at Chelsea

Chelsea centre-half Alex has joins partner John Terry on the sidelines, as he has been ruled out for up to eight weeks.

Alex will have investigative surgery on his right knee later this week and early indications suggest that he could be out for up to 60 days.

Chelsea skipper John Terry has already revealed that he will be out ‘for months’ with a nerve problem in his right knee.

This leaves Chelsea severely depleted in defence and Carlo Ancelotti may be forced to recall Michael Mancienne from Wolves.
