Galway City rated the best town in the worst county in Ireland

Voters on the website likeplace.ie have voted for the best and worst towns and the best and worst counties in Ireland.

With an average rating of 4/5, Galway was rated the best town in Ireland. One commenter describing it as “lively, diverse and welcoming, with a host of entertainment & cultural events, and many opportunities to get involved in local groups”.

The town stands as a marked contrast to rest of the county, which with an average rating of 3.5/5 was rated the worst county to live in.

One voter said of Tuam, “The streets are filthy, rubbish bins are often overflowing. I have seen quite squalid conditions in my time but Tuam is an utter disgrace."

The best county to live in is Donegal, according to the poll, as it managed to get an average rating of 4.1/5.

Bray in Co. Wicklow (average score 3.1/5) was rated as the worst town to live in Ireland.
