Driver License scam

Don’t get stung by this.

Gardaí have warned that a fake Facebook page is contacting users to ask for money in order to renew their driver license.

A spokesperson for the Gardaí commented: “A fraudulent Facebook page purposing to be the National Driver Licence Service (NDLS) is inviting people to contact them via WhatsApp to apply for or renew their driving licence. They are then seeking payment of over €200.”

The scam is an attempt to part people from their money.

In a statement issued on Sunday evening, authorities warned that the NDLS does not have any official social media pages, and that the only way to contact the NDLS is through the official RSA social media pages or online through www.rsa.ie or www.ndls.ie.

Facebook has yet to remove the page, but Gardaí say it has been reported. Gardaí provided a screenshot of the page, which is also falsely advertising work for a delivery driver.

Investigations are ongoing.
