Green Party promises 100,000 new jobs over 10 years
It's fighting talk from the Green Party today as they promise a “green” recovery with a guarantee of 100,000 jobs over the next 10 years if the party is returned to Government.
The Greens, which published its jobs strategy today, say their policies implemented since 2007 have delivered more than 20,000 positions.
Party chairman Dan Boyle says that prudent financial planning is paramount to its jobs policy for the future: "Our job creation plan is realistic but ambitious. And it will work."
"We are a party of difference and we are a party of new ideas,” Boyle said.
The Greens say 20,000 new posts can be established by helping small businesses to begin online trading, while expanding the ultra fast broadband network would generate around 5,000 jobs.
