The National League kicks off tonight with some tasty fixtures at Croke Park, with the clash of the 2011 All-Ireland champions Cork taking on the 2012 champions Dublin in their own backyard. And with no sponsor in place yet, the Rebel’s jersey will have a new look to it.

Tonight they will bear The Mercy Hospital Foundation’s testicular cancer appeal logo as the Foundation is working in partnership with the County Board to raise awareness of the important issue.

Micheal Sheridan, CEO of the Mercy Foundation said that the partnership with the footballers will help to raise awareness.

“We are delighted that the Cork team will be raising awareness of such an important issue this weekend. It is an excellent opportunity to boost the profile of testicular cancer, its prevalence in young men, and most importantly how to detect it early.”

The Rebels aren’t the first county to sport a charity brand, but it can only help to get people talking about such a serious topic.

While we knew they would be tackling the Dubs tonight, so too will they be tackling the subject of testicular cancer.
