Ireland striker picks up Football League Goal of the Year

Republic of Ireland striker Simon Cox is on international duty at the moment, but over the weekend picked up the Football League Goal of the Year.

Cox is with the rest of the Ireland squad as they prepare for the crunch qualifier with Austria tomorrow night, but his father was at the Football League ceremony dinner at the weekend, where his sensational strike against Birmingham took the top gong.

It really was a spectacular finish from the 25 year-old who has had to play out of position so often for Ireland that he is rarely in a position to even attempt such a feat.

Well worth another look we think.
