We’ve featured young Zak Gilsenan before, and it looks like he’s settling in very well at Barcelona.

Almost exactly a year ago today we brought you the news that Zak Gilsenan, an Aussie-based nine-year-old born in Castleknock, had signed been up for the famous Barcelona school, FCBEscola.

Now we are pleased to hear that his first year has gone very well and the Spanish giants have signed him up for another two years.

Football Australia are keeping a close eye on Zak and it was they who broke the story on the former Perth Glory kid’s big news yesterday.

Zak plays in three different positions for the FCBEscola team he plays on; striker, midfield and right back, with the idea being he learns all aspects of the game.

The same report also tells us that Zak recently captained the team at an international tournament, where they won without conceding a goal in six matches.

This latest deal will take the now 10-year-old Zak up to the age of 12, when, hopefully, he will taken on again into the even more famous La Masia Academy, the place that produced Messi, Xavi, Iniesta and the rest of the tika-taka masters.

Best of luck Zak, and we’ll give the FAI a buzz and let them know about you…
