Irishman locked up after alleged taxi romp in Dubai

An Irishman is facing a possible three-year jail sentence in Dubai for allegedly getting his leg over while in the back of a taxi.

According to The Irish Sun, engineering firm worker Conor McRedmond was held in custody for five days in the Islamic emirate after romping with Brit Rebecca Black (no, not the awful singer) following a night at a bar.

In Dubai it is illegal for unmarried couples to live together or share a hotel room, so you can imagine that they don't turn a blind eye to such a couple doing the no pants dance in the back of a taxi.

The tabloid reports that the two were spied in the rear view mirror of an outraged cabbie's taxi, which led to the driver stopping and leaving his car to alert police. When he and a cop returned, they reportedly found the two getting hot and heavy, a claim Rebecca fiercely denies.

“It’s all total bulls**t," insists recruitment consultant Rebecca, who claims that she was alone in the cab at the time.

"If it were true I’d have been on the phone straight away telling my story to The Sun, but it’s not. I have no idea where these sex allegations have come from because none were put to me by the authorities.

“I was arrested for having a bottle of beer in the back of a cab, not having sex. That is all. I was alone in the vehicle.”

Samples have been taken from the cab and if more than just beer is found by Dubai's criminal lab, the two could face up to three years in prison each.
