It was lovely to hear Connacht coach Pat Lam speaking Irish after their win over Leinster last night

The New Zealander is winning over the fans on and off the pitch…

Connacht pulled off a big upset in the Guinness PRO12 last night as they beat defending champions Leinster 10-9 at the Sportsground in Galway. A Kieran Marmion try along with Jack Carty’s conversion and penalty was just enough to secure the win.

The western province are sitting pretty at the top of the Pro12 table this morning and a lot of the credit has to go to the coach Pat Lam. The Kiwi has recruited excellently and is continuing the development of young players like Carty and Robbie Henshaw and Connacht are reaping the benefits.

The fans of the province really seem to be taking to Lam and he will have endeared himself even more after the game last night when he spoke a cúpla focal to TG4. A nice touch…
