The Spaniard has made the long-rumoured move from Chelsea official, and will be a welcome addition for all United fans.

After a difficult few days for Manchester United fans, many of them will be made much happier with the news that there has finally been a big name signing brought in for David Moyes and his squad, in the shape of Juan Mata.

Mata had fallen out with José Mourinho at Chelsea and has seen very little game time this season, but he can expect a lot more minutes on the pitch as he tries to turn the season around at Old Trafford.

United confirmed the deal in a statement on their website this evening which read: “Manchester United is pleased to announce it has reached agreement with Chelsea Football Club for the transfer of Juan Mata for a club-record fee. The deal is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms.

“A further announcement will be made in due course.”

Providing the medical goes OK, Mata could make his United debut as early as this Tuesday against Cardiff City and his arrival will provide a much needed lift for fans of the Red Devils, who are going through a pretty rough time of it at the moment.
