Kop On: Joe Cole has a couple of serious digs at Liverpool

Joe Cole has blasted Liverpool in an interview with The Sun after his time at Anfield didn't work out, saying “they're not the biggest club” anymore.

Joe Cole's run at Liverpool saw him get little game time, and with good reason, after his performances were well below par. He also spent time on loan away from the club as a result, before securing a move to West Ham in the January window.

However, he seems to have a chip on his shoulder about his treatment at Anfield, as in an interview with The Sun (enough of an insult in and of itself) he's taken a few swings at his old club.

Cole claimed that he never settled at Liverpool because “I can only play for teams that I’m passionate about and I think that’s what went wrong for me at Liverpool”.

He didn't stop there though, adding that when he joined, he was told by an interviewer that he'd joined the biggest club in the country, but “obviously they’re not the biggest club in the country any more”.

He also stated that when he was leaving Chelsea, he “was left with two real options — Liverpool or Spurs. Spurs was probably the best option”.

All of this seems quite rich, coming from the man who used to fill the coveted number 10 shirt at the historic club given that Coutinho, who is the new incumbent, has already contributed more to the team's success in two games than Cole did in two years.
