Lampard return to action delayed by fresh injury

Chelsea star Frank Lampard has been ruled out of action for a further three weeks after suffering a fresh injury in training, manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed.

The midfielder had planned to make his return against Sunderland this weekend after recovering from a hernia problem which had kept him on the sidelines for more than two months.

Lampard picked up the new injury to the abductor muscle in his leg during training on Thursday.

The 32-year-old’s last appearance for the Blues was in the 2-0 win over Stoke City on 28 August.
