Liverpool leading chase for Swiss Serie A defender

Liverpool are leading the chase for €6m-rated Swiss international Reto Ziegler, who could be an ideal solution come January for the Red's troublesome issues on the left-flank in recent weeks.

24-year-old Ziegler, who plies his trade for Serie A side Sampdoria, can play as either a left winger or left wing-back and is thought to be an ideal replacement to fill the void caused by Emiliano Insua's departure to Galatasary, a position which many believe recent signing Paul Konchesky has failed to solidify as his own.
