The Uruguayan will still miss the start of the new season…

It has been a busy summer for Luis Suarez. From scoring both goals against England to making the move from Liverpool to Barcelona, he has been dominating football news. Oh yeah, and there was that small matter of trying to take a chunk out of Giorgio Chiellini too.

After the incident on June 24, Fifa handed down a nine-game international ban to Suarez and also banned him from all football activities for four months. Uruguay appealed the decision but that was rejected on July 10. The next day his move to Barcelona was confirmed.

Today the Spanish club, in conjunction with Uruguayan officials, had a hearing at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in a bid to get the ban reduced but the appeal has been rejected.

He will still serve the ban up until and including October 25 but there’s is some positive news as he has been cleared to train with his Barcelona teammates having previously been barred from any football activity.
