Manchester City deny that Emmanuel Adebayor is set to leave the club

Manchester City have denied that bench warming striker Emmanuel Adebayor will join Juventus in January.

Apart from attracting the ire of Arsenal fans at Eastlands last season, the Togolese striker has failed to make a significant impact at City, particularly since Roberto Mancini took over as manager.

The relationship between the pair seemed to reach a nadir during the Manchester Derby earlier this month, when Adebayor was sent on as a substitute for Carlos Tevez in second half time injury time during the 0-0 draw and given only seconds to make an impact.

Mancini has favoured Tevez as the focal point of the attack, with support coming from the likes of David Silva, Yaya Toure and Adam Johnson from midfield.

Never one to turn down an opportunity to shoot his mouth off, Adebayor has had quotes attributed to him today by Belgian magazine Sport/Foot, which suggested that he was ready to leave Eastlands for Italian giants Juventus in January.

“Roberto Mancini, I do not know what I did, but he never plays me,” Adebayor is reported to have said.

“I am going to have a change of scene during the transfer window.

“And I can already tell you that City have reached an agreement with Juventus for a loan. I therefore expect to be able to leave in December.”

Manchester City, however, have refuted claims that Adebayor is about to leave for the Serie A club, although the fact that he has made only twelve appearances for the Citizens in all competitions this season would suggest that he will be on his way out of the club sooner rather than later.
