Manchester United on alert as Bayern could sell €30m star

Bayern Munich coach Louis Van Gaal has put top European clubs, including long-held admirers Manchester United on alert after revealing the German champions could sell Bastian Schweinsteiger next summer.

According to German daily Bild, Van Gaal has been quoted as saying: ''I think that Bayern Munich is a business and if it is true that €30m have been offered for him, then you cannot just ignore that kind of money,'' he said.

The 26-year-old has spent his entire career with Bayern, who are currently seated 6th in the Bundesliga, and seems to be now pondering a move abroad next summer, a year before his contract is due to expire.

Other teams believed to be interested in Schweinsteiger include Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
