Manchester United target linked with €30 million Zenit move

Napoli and Slovakia midfielder Marek Hamsik has been linked with a €30 million move to Russian side Zenit St.Petersburg.

Hamsik, 23, has been linked with a move to Manchester United and other top European clubs in the recent past following some eye-catching displays for Napoli and the Slovakian national team.

Hamsik was the subject of interest from Chelsea and Real Madrid in the summer, but turned down moves to both clubs and signed a new five-year deal with the Naples club instead.

Recently, he has expressed an interest in moving to Manchester, saying: “These are nice sounds. It would be difficult to say no to Manchester United.”

Russian champions Zenit St.Petersburg have been linked with a big money move for the creative midfielder, however and former Napoli and Juventus sporting director Luciano Moggi, a controversial figure in Italian football circles, believes that Napoli should take the money and run.

"If Zenit were to offer €30m for Hamsik, I wouldn't think about it for a moment. I'd sell him immediately," he said.

"Hamsik is not a champion. Champions are something else. Maradona was one. Marek is a good player. €30m is excessive."
