McCoy and McDowell frontrunners for BBC Sports Personality 2010

Tony McCoy, 15-time champion jumps jockey, is the bookies favourite to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.

In April the 36-year-old Norn Iron man finally won the Grand National at his 15th attempt, adding this piece of silverware to an incredible collection that includes a record 15 champion jumps jockey titles and more than 3,000 winners.

Surprisingly, not one footballer has been included in the shortlist. There is a spot, however, for Irish golf hero Graeme McDowell.

He’s sure to be one of the frontrunners in the voting following a sensational year that saw him win the US Open and help the European team clinch victory in the Ryder Cup in October.

Who’s nominated?

Mark Cavendish, Tom Daley, Jessica Ennis, David Haye, Tony McCoy, Graeme McDowell, Graeme Swann, Phil Taylor, Lee Westwood, Amy Williams.
